They obviously don’t make pie charts that guarantee investment returns as nobody in the financial industry can, react to real world stock market price moves, or help to preserve company retirement plan principal in the early stages of a stock market decline. The measure of how something works is a function of how well it is used, and pie charts are clearly used in the wrong way by most financial advice professionals. So, pie charts can’t really do what they are advertised to do. How many mutual funds do you really own? How many individual stocks are inside all of those mutual funds? You have the opportunity to choose from three types of grips: They are durable and don’t cause rust and corrosion. Aluminum and stainless steel are the two materials that can no doubt be trusted. Tools made of this material can be quite fragile, but here it is worth paying attention to the manufacturer. But despite the price, it is durable and resists corrosion. If you are looking for a cheaper option, then plastic is suitable for you. In order not to make a mistake with the choice, consider the following points: MaterialĬhoose a tool from either plastic, or aluminum, or stainless steel. ![]() Certain models have built-in scales that let you know the weight of the fish right away. Some models have a special button to open the jaw, while some work manually. The tool has a clamp that allows you to set the jaw of the fish in one position. All fish grips have one principle, but their difference is how they open the jaw of the fish. The mechanism of its work is simple so you will quickly understand how to use it. If you haven’t been familiar with this tool before, then don’t worry. But it is especially useful for you when fishing from a boat or during sea fishing. As a rule, such a tool is used for any type of fishing. But with the fish grip, this will not happen. And therefore, when you hold it with your hand, a large percentage that you will miss it. Plus, the ability to customize your workspace and reorganize your toolbar can play a big role in both productivity and comfort while working with the app. ![]() If you fall into that category, you’ll have an easier time navigating through Photoshop for iPad without an explanation. Most digital artists have had a passing encounter with Adobe products. The verdictĪdobe wins based on both customization and standardization.īut we’re not just giving them the win because they have a long history in interface design. Wherever you move one toolbar, all of your tools will appear in the same position so you don't have to move all your tools one by one. You can move your tool settings around the screen into whatever position feels most comfortable for you. On the other hand, Photoshop for iPad gives you a bit more leeway. Doing so will move your Sidebar with your brush size and brush opacity sliders to the opposite side of the screen. You also have the option to choose a right-handed interface. You'll find that everything is in a fixed position except for the Color Panel which can be moved around on the screen. Regarding interface customization: in Procreate, there is very little freedom. These tools allow you to do completely different things and that could confuse users trying to transition from one workspace to another. For example, the Adjustments icon in Procreate is represented by what resembles the Magic Wand icon in Photoshop. Some of the icons don't always translate to what you might think they'd mean. While the Procreate interface is cleaner when compared to Photoshop for iPad, many of its features are hidden in nested menus that can be frustrating to navigate. While it's often celebrated for its ease of use, you might want to look at a few tutorials or the Procreate handbook before jumping in. The Procreate app interface is simplistic and clean in its appearance with the goal of keeping your focus on your work. In some ways, the design style set by Adobe means that any variation from the “norm” results in a learning curve - even when using non-Adobe apps! The interface for Photoshop is more flexible and customizable than what you’ll find in the Procreate app.īut even if you've only used an Adobe product once, the uniformity in their interface design over the years makes this a great advantage for returning users. From my experience in graphic design, I've been using Adobe products for over a decade, so this familiarity and comfort make sense. For that reason it's safe to say that everything is just a derivative of their blueprint. When I began navigating and comparing the setups for Photoshop and Procreate, I immediately felt comfortable using Photoshop for iPad.Īdobe has set the standard for the way that design and drawing software interfaces look and feel. ![]() Beware of the sidewalk vendors and tourist markets and stick to reputable merchants. Be wary of purchasing products outside the USA and do some serious investigation when buying in Mexico. Coumarin is a toxic substance especially to the liver, and has been banned in the USA since the 1950’s. Apparently, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean began to sell the cheap synthetic vanillas with great success and profit! By adding coumarin to synthetic vanillan, the flavor was a little more like pure vanilla. It was soon discovered that a synthetic product named vanillan could be made from paper pulp and coal tar. Meanwhile, synthetic products were developing in Germany as cheaper alternatives. Growing vanilla became even more difficult. On the heels of the revolution, development by petroleum companies in the gulf region began stripping the natural forestation. This was further complicated for the Mexicans by the Mexican Revolution. By the early 20th century, competition from heavily vested French plantations nurtured for decades in other tropical climates began to gain control of the world vanilla market. Vanilla pods (beans, sticks) grow from the most beautiful flowering orchids. Business prospered in the vanilla growing regions on the Gulf of Mexico. Until the latter part of the 19th century, Mexican vanilla enjoyed a monopoly. Now my quest for the truth became a true challenge. One of my sources went as farĪs to say that “more than 99% of all so-called vanilla extract bought in retail venues in Latin America is imitation vanilla.” This statement seemed much exaggerated. If the label on the bottle does not say that alcohol is an ingredient then it cannot be the true extract. In fact real vanilla extract can only be made with the use of alcohol. However, finding a truly natural vanilla extract is much more complicated.įor some long-forgotten reason, I had also acquired a predetermined mind-set that real vanilla would not contain alcohol. Of course the imitation product is what it claims to be. Simple! But this may not be the case at all. The other product would state ‘imitation vanilla’ on the label. It’s Mexico! For me, the real product would state that it is natural vanilla on the label. In my mind it was a simple task to purchase vanilla, especially here in Manzanillo. I was not expecting to find so much conflicting information regarding what ‘is’ and ‘is not’ real vanilla. ![]() Researching this article proved to be a true conundrum. If that’s your goal, this may be worth having on hand.By Manzanillo Sun Writer from the May 2015 Edition That tells me that if you wanted to bake this into a cake, you may end up with something that tastes richer and butterier than you’d get with other extracts. Every taster agreed that the cookies made with this vanilla were “ultra buttery” as if “you used some really fancy European butter” and one taster even said, “they’re like eating exceptional vanilla ice cream, but in cookie form.” Since I used the exact same butter in every single test, the only differing factor here was the vanilla. In the pudding test, tasters were generally happy with the rich, earthy vanilla flavor, though some commented that it was “really, really strong vanilla flavor, almost too much.” What was really interesting, though, was how the vanilla performed in the cookie test. I was especially excited to try this “Elixir” which is a double-fold extract-that's an extract made with double the vanilla beans for super-concentrated vanilla flavor. I was already a fan of Villa Vainilla’s Pure Vanilla Extract-I buy a few bottles of it to give as gifts every time I travel to Mexico. ![]() Options include ROUND_CEILING, ROUND_DOWN, Rules, limits on exponents, flags indicating the results of operations, and trapĮnablers which determine whether signals are treated as exceptions. Solid tine aerators “actually compress the soil,” says Waltz. While they will make holes in your lawn, they're far less effective. Solid-tine aerators poke into the soil using gravity to punch holes straight down. This type of aerator has no engine, but is instead pulled behind a riding mower or pushed across the lawn. They consist of solid pieces of metal, like the tines on a fork. Spike aerators (also called solid tine aerators) do not work nearly as well. (Side note: If dethatching is one of your goals, don’t leave the cores to decompose, says Waltz. This thatch also inhibits air and water movement. This method also helps remove thatch, the brown layer of undecomposed grass and plant material that the grass grows up through. The small holes left in the lawn allow more oxygen to get to the roots. These plugs can be left to decompose or raked up and removed. An engine drives the tines into the soil, pulls up the plugs, and deposits them on the lawn surface. These types of aerators have hollow tines that sink into the soil and lift out small, rounded plugs a few inches long. Without question, a core aerator (also called a hollow-tine aerator) is better for your lawn, says Waltz. There are generally two kinds of aerators for sale: spike aerators and core aerators. But if you have to work to sink the screwdriver into the lawn, it’s probably time to aerate, says Waltz. If it’s easy to do, your lawn is probably okay. There’s no one-size-fits all guide, but lawn care experts tend to recommend aerating every few years, especially if you have heavy soil or lots of activity on the lawn such as kids playing, pets running along a fence line, or vehicle traffic.Īn easy test is to take a screwdriver and try to push it into the ground about 3 to 4 inches deep - the depth which most grass roots grow. Here’s everything else to know about when and how to aerate your lawn: How can I tell if my lawn needs aerated? “Aeration opens up the soil and creates large pores for air to fill so that roots can breathe, which stimulates new growth.” “Over time, soil becomes compacted, which limits the amount of oxygen accessible to the roots of grass,” says Clint Waltz, PhD, turfgrass specialist at the University of Georgia College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences. Ideally, soil should contain a balance of small pores that hold water and large pores that hold oxygen. Understanding what aeration is-and why your lawn benefits- requires a quick refresher on soil science. (Tired of gas? These are the electric lawn mowers we recommend.) Let’s be honest: Growing a beautiful lawn takes effort.īesides mowing, watering your lawn and choosing the best types of grasses, your turf also requires aeration. ![]() ![]() In recent months, he worked on the new series Paradise City, a comedy series titled Mrs. The two reprised their roles of father and son in the 2013 sequel.īoyce also starred in on episodes of the Disney Channel shows Shake It Up, Good Luck Charlie and Austin & Ally and appeared in the 2011 movie Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer.
